It's time for the sixth annual Kansas Good Neighbor Awards and the Kansas Association of REALTORS® is looking for REALTORS® who make exceptional contributions to improve the quality of life in their communities.
Since it began in 2004, the Good Neighbor Program has recognized REALTORS® from communities across the state and has awarded over $10,000 to organizations such as NW Kansas Domestic and Sexual Violence Services, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kansas, Sheltered Living in Topeka, Emergency Aid-Food Bank in Salina and Homeless Children Gift Program in Wichita - just to name a few.
Two Good Neighbor winners will receive $1,000 grants for their community project and two Good Neighbor honorable mentions will receive $200 grants for their projects. The winners will receive travel expeneses to attend the 2009 KAR Annual Convention in September in Wichita to receive their award.
Eligible activities might include volunteer work involving affordable housing issues, educational programs, youth-related activities or anything else that makes a community a better place to live.
"We hope the Association's Good Neighbor Awards program will inspire REALTORS® everywhere - a family of more than 8,000 professionals statewide - to give a little or a lot to help improve the quality of life in their communities," Association CEO Karen Gehle said. "This awards program is fundamentally about recognizing and encouraging the power of one person to make a difference in the lives of others."
Entries must be received by June 1. For more details and an entry form, call 800-366-0069, ext. 2124, or go here.
