The City of Olathe hosts a Development Forum every quarter to keep the development community apprised of what is happening in the community. The next Development Forum will be Thursday, March 11, from 8:30-10:00 a.m. at the Olathe City Council Chambers at 100 E. Santa Fe.
The main topic will be the Comprehensive Plan update. The Comprehensive Plan documents the community's vision for how Olathe will grow and develop today and in the future, and influences policies that have a direct bearing on the quality of life that citizens enjoy in Olathe.
The Comprehensive Plan section of the Forum will begin with a 30-minute overview of the draft Plan. The remainder of the Forum will be a workshop format that will provide an opportunity for participants to review the information and learn more about the Plan, ask questions, and provide critiques and suggestions.
The meeting will also include:
· A brief presentation from Municipal Services on the South Cedar Creek Benefit District
· Announcements of development ordinances that have been recently updated or are in the process of being updated (and opportunities to provide input)
· Tips for expediting building permits and planning applications
· Introductions of new or promoted staff and their roles (key contacts for our development customers)
All those involved in development in Olathe - developers, contractors, architects, engineers, and others - are invited and encouraged to attend. Reserve the date and call 913-971-8503 to R.S.V.P.
If you can’t make this meeting, but still want to find out about the Comprehensive Plan, the city has scheduled two open houses to present an overview of the plan, answer questions and gather input from the public. They are scheduled for Wednesday, March 10 and Thursday, March 11 from 5:45-8 p.m. each night at Olathe City Hall, 100 E. Santa Fe.
The open houses will begin with a presentation at 6 p.m. that provides an overview of the draft plan, followed by an opportunity to ask questions and learn more. For more information about these events or the update process, see www.planolathe.com.
