The REALTORS® Commercial Alliance of the Kansas City Regional Association of REALTORS® held its 2009 Commercial Awards Reception on March 5 at the Intercontinental Kansas City.
Each year, this event recognizes the accomplishments of our city’s finest commercial REALTORS®. Jon Hitchcock, CCIM, RCA-KC’s Commercial Division President-Elect, served as master of ceremonies at the event.
“The REALTORS® Commercial Alliance of Kansas City is once again proud to recognize the leaders in the Kansas City commercial real estate brokerage industry for their outstanding accomplishments in 2008,” Hitchcock said.
Top honors went to Kathy Woodward, SIOR, from DDI Commercial, who was recognized with the 2008 Allen J. Block REALTOR® of the Year Award. While this award has traditionally been presented annually, it was recently renamed.
“Earlier this year, the Kansas City commercial real estate brokerage community lost an industry icon when Allen Block passed away at the age of 93”, Hitchcock said. “Mr. Block embodied the virtues and ethics of what it means to be a commercial REALTOR®, and was a life-long supporter of our association and our industry. In honor of Allen’s service to the commercial REALTOR® community, the RCA-KC Realtor® of the Year Award, the most prestigious honor bestowed by our association, will now be known as the Allen J. Block REALTOR® of the Year Award.”
Two additional “Of the Year” awards went to:
* Mark T. Sonnenberg, SIOR, CCIM, Colliers Turley Martin Tucker, who was named the 2008 Roger L. Cohen REALTOR® Salesperson of the Year.
* Michael L. VanBuskirk, SIOR, CCIM, CRE; David Zimmer, SIOR; and Rick Chamberlain, SIOR, Zimmer Real Estate Services, L.C., who all received the 2008 Home Run Award.
