Code of Ethics Mandatory Training
Points you need to know:
- Mandatory Code of Ethics (COE) training was established at the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Board of Directors 1999 Annual Convention.
- Became effective January 1, 2001
- We are in our second Quadrennial ethics Training time period (January 1, 2005 thru December 31, 2008).
- Training taken before December 31, 2004 DOES NOT count.
- ALL REALTOR® members must take it including new members
- It is each member’s obligation to notify your Association of completion of this requirement. Ways to do this:
- Fax or mail in copy of your certification of completion to Association in care of Debbie Strange, KCRAR, 11150 Overbrook Rd, Ste. 100, Leawood, KS 66211 or fax to (913) 498-1110 or email her at debbies@kcrar.com
- Deadline for quadrennial training requirements to be meet: December 31, 2008
How can you meet this requirement?
Best way:
Take KCRAR CE Class “Behave Yourself! The Code of Ethics. This satisfies the NAR requirement to be taken by 12/2008. This is a 3 hours elective CE for Kansas and Missouri. This is not a state licensing core. (To register or check for dates of class go online to www.kcrar.com and look under education)
Other ways:
- Go to www.realtor.org and take free on-line training at your convenience – note this does not give you any CE credit
- Take a course at the state level – normally no CE credit is given for this class
- Take course at another association
- Take KCRAR Professional Standards Committee training given annually – no CE credit is given for this method
- Broker can purchase the KAR Code of Ethics DVD and then contact Debbie Strange at (913) 498-1100 or email her at debbies@kcrar.com to obtain permission and requirements regarding facilitating this course. (No CE credit is given for this method)
Note: If you take the class any other way than through KCRAR, you must send confirmation of completion of approved class to your local Association as stated above.
If you have any questions regarding this mandate please contact Debbie Strange at KCRAR at (913) 498-0018 or email questions to her at debbies@kcrar.com.
