All the keys in your drawers and boxes … keys that you wonder what they once opened … keys that you are sure you will need, but when? These keys can now be recycled to help pay the bills for Ronald McDonald House Charities, The House That Love Built.
KCRAR is pleased to join the effort to collect keys to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities Kansas City!
These old keys will be recycled, and the profits will go to House operations and help the families that stay at Ronald McDonald House Charities Kansas City. Ronald McDonald House Charities serves families whose children are receiving care for a serious illness or injury at a Kansas City area hospital or treatment facility. Many of the children they serve are admitted to the hospital for pediatric intensive care, burns, cardiac care, hematology, oncology and neo-natal intensive care. Families living 35 miles or more outside the metropolitan area have top priority to stay at the Ronald McDonald Houses. Any family member or guest of a child receiving in-patient care at The Children’s Mercy Hospital may use the Ronald McDonald Family Room.
In 2009, Ronald McDonald House Charities Kansas City:
- Lodged nearly 2,000 families in our Ronald McDonald Houses
- Average family stayed five to 10 nights in the standard rooms and 24 nights in the suites (for immune-suppressed children); many families stayed for months at a time
- Families represented 30 states (including Kansas and Missouri) and two countries (Egypt and Norway)
- Served nearly 4,000 families in the Ronald McDonald Family room and received more than 41,000 visitors needing a place to relax, refresh and regroup, away from the hospital's intense environment
- Helped families from 11 different hospitals in the Kansas City area
Please help us in a year-round effort to support Ronald McDonald House Charities Kansas City by bringing any of your unneeded old keys to KCRAR.
