NAR encourages all Federal Political Coordinators (FPC) to hold in-district meetings with their Member of Congress sometime during the late summer or early fall to update them on issues for the second half of the year. Congressman Dennis Moore’s FPC Cherise Sedlock scheduled a luncheon with him in September to discuss REALTOR® issues.
Cherise, along with Lee McClelland, co-chair of Kansas Government Affairs and KCRAR’s Cindy Green met with Congressman Moore and thanked him for his support on numerous bills affecting REALTORS® that he helped advance out of the House Financial Services Committee. These bills included HR 3121 National Flood Insurance; HR 1852 FHA Reform: HR 1982 Rural Housing and Economic Development Act of 2007; HR 2895 National Affordable Housing Trust Fund Act of 2007; and HR 698 Industrial Bank Holding Company Act of 2007.
Additionally, they discussed upcoming issues in the House including Terrorism Risk Insurance and carried interest, which would affect investment real estate. Another major issue discussed was assisting small business owners in obtaining affordable health insurance. Congressman Moore appreciated the input and asked McClelland and Green to stay in touch with him as they all learn more about these issues.
