If you haven’t gotten involved yet in the KCRAR Workforce Housing Opportunity Program, you’ll want to know about the next scheduled class sessions for “Housing for America’s Workforce Part I – Financing,” coming up on the mornings of June 9 and again July 21. The 3-hour CE class is the first of two classes required to earn the Workforce Housing Specialist certification.
It will start you on your way to understanding the growing niche of moderate-income working families. As a REALTOR®, you are in a unique position to participate in effective solutions to help those whose housing needs have been underserved and you’ll simultaneously increase your sales.
This class, taught by Sandra Goodwin, Director of Fannie Mae in Kansas City, will help you learn about the challenges for the typical family to locate financing and appropriate housing. You’ll also learn what resources and opportunities are available in our area, including the financing programs for moderate-income families.
Join the 300 KCRAR members who have earned the WHS certification to date! Certified members benefit from early notification and preferred seating at additional educational seminars through the year. One such seminar held recently featured Don Brinker, Homeownership Manager for Missouri Housing Development Commission. Brinker was here to bring us up-to-speed on Missouri Bond Money, recapture taxes, the American Dream Downpayment Initiative, property guidelines and more.
Workforce Housing Specialists are also listed on the program’s public service website, www.kchomeprograms.com, which is receiving more and more promotion during 2006.
