If you send your license renewal to the Kansas Real Estate Commission as close to the deadline as possible, that may cost you! The United States Postal Service has stopped stamping the postmark date on many applications that are received by KREC. As a result, the Commission is no longer able to verify the date a renewal application was mailed.
If you regularly wait to the last minute to mail your renewal application to the Commission, this change could result in the Commission imposing a $50 late renewal fee on your application or denying the renewal application if it is received after the expiration of the six-month grace period. The Commission advises submitting your renewal application to the Commission well in advance of the deadline to ensure that your license is renewed on time and you do not have to pay the $50 late renewal fee.
If you must submit your application close to the deadline, then send the renewal application through certified mail with a return receipt so you can prove that the application was mailed prior to the deadline. If you have any questions about this issue, you can contact the Kansas Real Estate Commission at 785-96-3411.
