The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development contacted KCRAR and requested an opportunity to share information about the new FHA Secure financing program, and representatives came to the KCRAR classroom on December 7.

Outlining FHA’s new program was Macie L. Houston, HUD Regional Director for Region VII located in Kansas City, and Douglas Neff, HUD Single-Family Housing Program Director from the St. Louis field office.

FHA Secure is a refinancing option that can give a second chance to credit-worthy homeowners (regardless of the type of loan currently in place) who were making timely mortgage payments before their loans reset or are having difficulty with payments after the reset, because of an FHA-insured loan product. This program is for borrowers who are either current on their loan (any loan) or who may already be late.  Go to www.FHA.gov or ask a mortgage broker for details.

HUD visited us in the hope that when REALTORS® like you are educated, you’ll be able to help more troubled homeowners remain in their homes. Remember that a good way to increase your sales is to help someone in trouble with their current mortgage. They’re likely to turn to you later when they want to move up … and they’ll be a good source of referrals for you, too.

An excellent resource for troubled homeowners is available by calling 1-888-995-HOPE.

This is a non-profit, HUD-approved credit counseling program. REALTORS® should encourage troubled homeowners to contact their lender immediately or to call this number for assistance.

Also, information about FHA products is available by calling the FHA Resource Center at 1-800-CallFHA.
REALTORS® or homeowners, regardless of the type of loan, can get refinancing information 5 days per week 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Remember, a regular stop in your search for mortgage programs should always be  www.KCHomePrograms.com. This is KCRAR’s public service website which is so highly acclaimed it is now licensed by several state and city REALTOR® associations.  This site contains a significant amount of information on various mortgage products and can be the answer to many of your listing and selling problems.
