The Kansas City Regional Association of REALTORS® has had a very successful REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) fundraising season. We started the year off with over $57,000 in RPAC investments contributed during the yearly membership dues billing. This total was $20,000 less than was collected in 2008, and really gave our volunteers and investors an even greater challenge and incentive to meet our RPAC fundraising goals.
The auctions this year were as impressive as ever, raising a combined total of over $52,000 (Northland: $9,970; Show Me: $12,500; Sunflower: $25,672; and Rivers: $4,228). To date, KCRAR members have invested over $112,000 in RPAC this year.
Your investment in RPAC is critical because decisions that affect your business are being made almost daily by local, state, and national government. Your investment will continue to support your industry and private property rights while improving your bottom line. Did you know that RPAC-supported legislation saved the average KCRAR REALTOR® over $6,000 in 2008? (2009 savings totals will be available in January 2010.)
RPAC continues to work on many issues that help protect the real estate industry:
- Expanding the availability of health insurance for small businesses;
- Opposing onerous regulation of rental properties by area municipalities;
- Promoting REALTOR®-friendly legislation at all levels of government;
- Supporting keeping the federal government out of real estate regulation; and
- Promoting homeownership across the economic spectrum.
The power of RPAC is derived from REALTORS® banding together, investing in their business and fighting to protect their livelihood and homeowner rights. Thank you to all of our members who invest in RPAC and their business! You are fighting the good fight against big business and moving together in a unified front to protect the future of homeownership.
KCRAR President-Elect Renee Ryan Edwards says “each and every REALTOR®” should invest in RPAC.
“When you support RPAC, you help to ensure your own financial future and the future of all REALTORS®,” Ryan Edwards said. “Join me now, invest in RPAC and be a part of the investing majority!”
