Glenna Lunceford, GRI, ABR, CRS was an honored guest at the KCRAR Board of Directors meeting on June 24, 2010 when she received the REALTOR® Emeritus Award from KCRAR President Renee Ryan Edwards. Glenna received a certificate from NAR and a lapel pin to commemorate the special occasion.

Brian Sisney also received the REALTOR® Emeritus Award, which requires 40 continuous years of membership in a REALTOR® Association.

Glenna, an agent at Reece & Nichols Eastland, first joined the business in 1969 at the urging of her parents and husband.

“My mother and father had went into the business with Howard Cook, a local independent broker; they didn’t have franchises back then,” Glenna remembers. “They wanted me to join and my husband always thought I’d be good at it, so I finally did it.”

Glenna is an active volunteer at KCRAR, currently serving as the Show Me Region Chair, and says she receives many benefits from her Association involvement.

“There are the current updates on changes going on in the industry, networking … but probably the most important thing is the friendships,” Glenna says. “I’ve enjoyed my volunteering with the Association and I feel it’s important to give back to the industry that has provided a good living for me and my family for the last 40 years.”

Glenna says she was “pleased to receive” the Emeritus Award and called it a tremendous honor.

“It doesn’t seem like it’s been 40 years,” she says. “I’ll probably (be in the business) for many more.”

Brian first entered the real estate business in 1966, as an agent with Cliff Brisboy Realtors. Cliff required his agents to be a member of the then-Johnson County Board of REALTORS®, Brian remembers.

“That’s where I have most of my tenure, with the Johnson County Board,” Brian says. “I always kept my hand (in the Board); it gave me support and I thoroughly enjoyed working with the teams I came across, especially in the commercial area.”

Though illness beginning in 2002 has left him not as active in the industry as he’d like, Brian has continued to maintain his license in Kansas, and his company (Sisney & Co. Realtors) still has several properties.

As for what he’s enjoyed most about the real estate business, Brian says it was the freedom.

“I was looking for an opportunity to make as much money as I could (without someone telling me I was making too much), and I wanted my freedom,” Brian says. “I looked at service and not commission as the criteria (of good business).

“It was a pleasure to be recognized for longevity because that’s so rare in today’s world. Anyone recognized for this award has been in the profession a long time. It’s a high, cherished profession - but I could not have made a career out of the excitement of the world of REALTORS® without my wife Linda. She was my office manager for many years and is now a broker-associate with Prudential.”

Congratulations to Brian and Glenna for their long successful careers and this honor!
