Attention all Workforce Housing Specialists! The next couple of months will bring two excellent opportunities to earn points for your WHS Certification renewal.
The first opportunity to earn a renewal point is coming up on July 14, 2006. Our instructor will be Peter Newman, well-known local CPA and “The Tax Man” from KMBZ radio. His topic, Selling Real Estate Using the Income Tax Laws, is especially important for you to fully understand as a Workforce Housing Specialist. Working with first-time buyers who value your knowledge, this is yet another area where you can provide advice.
The class, which is not for CE, will be:
- Friday, July 14, 2006
- Two times to pick from: 9:00-10:30 am
OR 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
- Point value: 1
Seating is limited and we expect both class sessions to fill – so please click here to register online for either class time. All KCRAR members are welcome to attend, with reserved seating for WHS Certified members.
The next class worth one renewal point will be on August 25, 2006. You’ll hear from FBI Special Agent Julia Jensen who investigates cases of mortgage fraud in Kansas City. Come learn how to identify situations where this may be occurring and how you and your client scan steer clear of trouble.
This class, also not for CE, will be:
- Friday, August 25, 2006
- Two times to pick from: 9:00-10:30 am
OR 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
- Point value: 1
Seating for this class is also limited and we expect both class sessions to fill – so please click here to register online today. All KCRAR members are welcome to attend, with reserved seating for WHS Certified members.
Regarding WHS Renewal Points…
If you earned your WHS Certification in 2004 or 2005, you need to earn 5 renewal points by the end of 2006. If you earned your WHS Certification in 2006, you need to earn 5 renewal points by the end of 2007.
Points may be earned by attending KCRAR classes and seminars such as the ones above. You’re also welcome to earn points through other relevant activities and classes. For example, if you’ve taken foreign language lessons, acted as a first time homebuyer class instructor, or taken related classes outside or inside of KCRAR, please contact Jan Pringle (janp@kcrar.com) to see if you can earn points.
If you have questions about your renewal points to-date, please email Juli Everly at julie@kcrar.com. And watch for announcements of other point-earning opportunities!
The fee to renew your WHS certification will be $75. These funds will be used to maintain and improve kchomeprograms.com, to increase promotion of the site and to further develop the Workforce Housing Opportunity program.
